For the Love of Film

Don't forget the For the Love of Film blogathon coming up this February 14th through the 21st. It will be dual-hosted by Ferdy on Films and The Self-Styled Siren and sponsored by the National Film Preservation Foundation. Go to the Siren's site for a list of participants as well as further info on the blogathon. The commercial seen below, as well as banners, can be found here.

We've had a rough week of weather here and everyone has been snowed in. When the blizzards break the shovelling begins, through several cycles so far. Next week, I promise, things will return to normal around here. Thanks.

I believe you got more snow down there than we did up here -- last weekend we received 28 inches, this past week another 18. I had an offer to work in Miami this winter, from November through March -- having to turn that down has become one of my biggest regrets.

A landscaper comes in and plows us out, but the roads are still bad (this on Friday morning). We haven't received mail since Tuesday. Yesterday I saw the mail deliverer drive by -- he would've had to step out of his vehicle to put the mail in the box instead of his usual drive-up. Personally, I couldn't imagine being that lazy. This means, of course, that my artfully arranged Netflix rental system has gone completely to hell.

Mrs. Flick has been trapped 60 miles south near Frederick since Tuesday, keeping her mother company while I'm alone with the cats, doing what I can to fend off cabin fever... though my inner Jack Torrence feels like he's itching to come out. In the process, I've put on six pounds because there's nothing to do but eat and sit at this stupid computer.

It's true. We haven't received mail because the plowing has pushed six and seven foot tall mountains of snow up along the sides of the street. Around here everyone has a slot in the door so the mailman has to park to deliver the mail. And he can't park because the plowing has turned everything into one-lane strips.

I'm still trying to lose weight gained from quitting smoking and this week's been impossible. Literally locked up inside, unable to venture even to the curb you just sit and eat.

I have gotten exercise shovelling but brother does that get old. I am so damn sick of this snow. And there's more in the forecast for Monday, though not as bad. Still, I just want Spring to get here.
