Kenneth Strickfadden's original monster maker equipment was dragged out for this,and as far as I know,is still on display here in Dallas at Las Colinas Studios..
Thanks Christopher. When you've seen it a hundred times it does play itself out (or so you'd think) but I can still find myself laughing at its great, great jokes.
The top of the DVD says "The Greatest Comedy of All Time" but doesn't cite anyone. No critic, no magazine or paper, nothing. The distribution company itself is touting that and you know, I don't think many people would object.
One of my faves - and certainly among the top three or five most quotable movies of all time (as other comments have already proved!). Cutting that down to five minutes must've been so hard. But it gave me joy, so thanks. :)

And you can never go wrong with a cameo by Gene Hackman.

I had "Hello Handsome" in the first cut of this but it ran almost nine minutes so I ended up cutting it but I love that moment.

Did anyone else read the novelization? I sometimes throw out a line from that and confuse people who only saw the movie.
At the monster's unveiling in the novelization, Igor comes out on stage in a cutaway coat minus his hump, which baffles Dr. F.
"Igor, where's your hump?"
"Never with tails."
Classic.
Hold on, what? There was novelization of Young Frankenstein?

It may very well be possible that this is the best comedy of all time.

certainly the best horror comedy of all time..a few notches funnier than Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein..who rarely make me laugh...

Thanks Jandy. It was very difficult to cut jokes out that I loved so much. The movie has a good to great joke at the rate of about one every minute.
