I've been leaning a little heavy on the video clips lately but I have many videos I want to show and there's only four days left until Halloween. Here's another creepy moment, this time from The Blood on Satan's Claw. Enjoy.
I saw this at the drive-in. Not the best venue for subtle period-piece horror but it worked a charm on me that didn't diminish for the thirty-five years or so between viewings. The soundtrack is available on CD and supremely creepy, whether you're listening alone at home or driving around in the car. I had the goddamn thing on in the middle of a sunny day and I was still getting the creeps!
Yeah I saw on i-tunes that the soundtrack was available but not the movie. I have only ever seen it on tv, don't have the VHS and I don't think there's ever been a DVD. I found this clip online (lucky me) and ripped it so I could use it here but I really wish it would get a DVD release.
I'm thinking about buying the soundtrack, it would make good haunted house music for the trick or treaters.
There was a R2 DVD release, but it's out of print now. I saw it theatrically in NYC many years ago in a double feature with Confessions of an Opium Eater.
I've never seen this, and that makes me sad, BUT I did just check Amazon UK, and there is still an R2 DVD of the film in print, and it'll cost you about twenty dollars American.
I don't have a region free player, nor the money to get one but if you do by all means get it. Only twenty bucks. Go for it. I'll come over and watch it with you.
I posted the opening theme song film clip from this on my FB page a few weeks back..This is one I'm dying to come out on DVD here in the US..I toyed with getting a Pal disc awhile back,but they've become rare and even more expensive now..A really great mood piece!
If you know where to look, you might be able to hack the DVD player you have. I have a cheap (40 dollar) DVD player from Philips, and Amazon even included the hack instructions on their website which is why I continue to write about movies that are R3 and sometimes R2.
Definitely search online for hacking tips for your DVD model. I have an inexpensive Philips deck that had a site on the 'Net for easy all-region conversion. Once you have that option, you'll find your whole world changed. That sounds glib but seriously... having only Region 1 or All Region capability is like being allowed to read only books from America. Once you've read a book from Guam or Pago-Pago, you can never go back.
