Black Sabbath Poster Bonanza

Look at the great posters below for Mario Bava's Black Sabbath. They're courtesy of a wonderful site entitled The Wrong Side of Art and I heartily recommend going there and browsing their immense archives. I put them up to remind everyone that there are still three days to go in Kevin Olson's Italian Horror Blogathon. It's final day is Halloween itself so submit your own entry today! This simple poster post will have to suffice for my entry as I am not prepared to do anything more unfortunately. I'll level with you: it's been pretty damn busy around here with our oldest daughter reaching her deadline for college applications (this Friday) and I've been researching, writing and editing towards those purposes which explains why things have been more on the video side around here than the writing side. No one is applying to college next year (we hope) so I should have more time to devote to Cinema Styles October 2010: 100 Acre Horror, in which I spend the entire month interpreting horror through the lens of Winnie the Pooh and friends. The post on Eeyore alone should send chills down your spine. Until then, enjoy these posters and submit your own entry to the Italian Horror Blogathon soon!

Thanks for the plug, Greg! I personally can't wait for the write-up on Piglet...

I just watched Black Sabbath the other night on one of my million HD channels (there are so many useless ones I'm surprised I found something worthwhile to watch on one of them). Those posters are great.

Thanks again for your continuous efforts in helping me promote this thing. It's been fun reading and watching what you've been posting over here (things have been busty for me, too, which is why I haven't had the time to leave comments).

Arbo, my bad. By the by: Coolest October Banner Ever! You recognize the vampire pictured, yes?

Wait a minute... Are you doing Italian horror or Hammer horror?

And the Piglet write-up will try to veer from the usual Piglet write-ups that always focus on his predilection for human hearts. I mean, damn, there's more to Piglet than eating human hearts people!

Ha! Woops...bad typo by me. I did watch some Umberto Lenzi trash last night, so naturally gratuitous nudity is on my mind.

I seen this movie. I liked whats-er-name in the one about the phone. She was hot.

Greg said...

I seen it too. Me like. Good.

bill r. said...

Yeah. You know what else I seen? I seen that movie about that guy who makes the bodies get up and walk. When I seen that, I about died.

I seen a dragonfly.

I seen a horsefly.

I seen a housefly.

But I done seen about everything when I see an elephant fly!

At first I thought you were going to post photos of Ozzy and Geezer, but it turns out you were posting on the film originally titled (in English) Three Faces of Fear.

And that was Michele Mercier in the "telephone" episode. Some of you might have seen her in Truffaut's Shoot the Piano Player.

Actually I was originally going to post pics of Lorne Green and Dan Blocker, hence "Bonanza" in the title, originally called "The Three Sons of Ben."

I changed my mind at the last minute. No one from "Bonanza" was ever seen in a Truffaut film.

I alternate between Black Sabbath and Kill Baby Kill as to which is my favorite Bava..or Whip and the body or Blood and Black Lace....or Planet of the Vampires and...

Oh, I know her from Shoot the Piano Player, all right.

Greg said...

Totally.

Say, does everyone know that's me in the banner? 'Cause it is.

bill r. said...

What the!? Why, you're terrifying!!

Greg said...

I took it before I had my coffee.

It's funny, because when that banner first went up, my instinct was to ask you what movie it was from, but the more often I do that, the more embarrassed I feel about all the movies I haven't seen, so I didn't bother.

I'm curious now, though, what your answer would have been.

Greg said...

I would have simply said it's me. I foolishly thought that, due to my facebook profile pic, folks would easily recognize it as me but I was wrong.

Greg-

Congats on your daughter's accomplishments! My wife and I just have a cat that we've trained to go potty in the litter box. Not really similar parental accomplishments there, but we're taking kitty steps.

Also, when you say "no one is applying to college next year", I hope that's because they aren't seniors in high school yet, not because you want to do more work on your blog.

Oh heck... maybe that IS the reason. Who am I to judge????
