Cinema Styles October - Coming Soon

This October Cinema Styles will be exploring the passion of horror rather than the slashing, killing and maiming. Love, madness, obsession, desire. All those deep primal emotions, feelings and states of mind that horror has always exploited so well. From Dracula to Christine, Peeping Tom to Fade to Black, Lust for a Vampire to The Wolfman and everything in between, before and after, Cinema Styles will be celebrating it all month long. I have a trailer here for your viewing pleasure. I'll have original works in store this October again and new banners for each day. See you then!

I've just been scared...stiff!!

Get it? Because of erections?

Greg said...

No I don't get it. I guess I've got some boning up to do on innuendo.

bill r. said...

You just unintentionally made a reference to erections! That's hilarious!

Greg said...

I even unintentionally italicized the reference. What are the odds?!

Greg, I'm having trouble seeing your trailer. It says it won't be available till later!?

Greg said...

Tony I tried the upload on a dummy site and couldn't get it to upload. I'll figure it out next week sometime and get it onsite again.

Meanwhile, Bill, wasn't it totally awesome?! This could be like a lost film that only you and I have seen.

It was totally awesome, Greg. If only the world could enjoy it as we have.

Honestly, though, it was very good, Greg. I'm very curious to see where you're going with this.

But wait, didn't you hint that the "they" in "they're coming" was a secret? Am I remembering something incorrectly?

Greg said...

The "they" were the passions involved in horror. For those who didn't see it - just about everyone - it dealt with love, madness, obsession, desire, etc. Rather than deal with the blood and guts of horror I want to explore that stuff this time around. I'll get the trailer proper up next week. Today I don't have the time unfortunately.

Pretty good show although the brief nudity promised was so quick I missed it. I guess I'll have to watch it again. Of course that's why screengrabs were invented.

Peter, just watch Kaufman's Invasion of the Body Snatchers again, because that's where Greg took the clip.

Great seeing Carol Gray in the banner. And now to this trailer. I'll be right back.

I always love it when Phibes conducts. I watched this with my children because it's important. Like the Bible. But more than the Bible. So much more.

Bill... tell us what happened!!!

And Greg, is this banner from the same movie from the stills you posted last year where there was a dude reading a newspaper and his wife stabbed him? And then there was an innocent kid in there somewhere?

I hope I just didn't dream that.

It looks like it'll be the best James Bond movie yet. I mean, 007 with an axe, chasing kids? It's a dream come true.

Greg said...

Arbo, I'll get the real trailer for your kids to see soon enough... maybe. Sorry you couldn't see it. Bill is special you see.

Greg said...

Fox, no it's not from that. That was from Tales from the Crypt last year and how incredible that you remembered.

Greg said...

Ryan, quiet you.

Ryan Kelly said...

I'm sorry, Greg...

Fox said...

...and how incredible that you remembered....

Everything you do leaves an impression on me.

Awesome stuff. Great work, Greg. I'm excited by the topics you're going to cover this year. Looking forward to it.

Oh, and I sent you an email...

Greg,

I think you missed something. You didn't credit me in putting together that video for you. You're "you are the wind beneath my wings" bullcrap speech is wearing a little thin. I want some credit.

Looking forward to October.

Greg said...

Piper, if you actually got to see the video I'm happy for you. And you did it all, which is probably why it won't work.

I wanna throw in that I think Christine is an underrated Horror gem.

Maybe it's not so underrated around here, but when people talk Carpenter, I notice that they often flick that one away.

Peter Nellhaus said...

I saw the trailer! Score!

I'll be doing mostly horror films in October also, as usual. I also anticipate writing about a scheduled DVD which will be about real life horror.

I look forward to it!

Yay! I finally got to see it, although the kids were in their pods by then. Still, it's more of an adult video, full of mushy emotions and lesbian kisses. Did anybody else have to endure a lot of "buffering video" interludes? It was maddening but I put myself in my happy place and it worked out okay.
