Name That Actress

You wouldn't know I'm back but I am. You wouldn't know because I haven't been online more than a few minutes this morning because work came crashing down on me from all sides this morning after they cleaned up my floor, which was flooded. And work still beckons but that doesn't mean I can't put up a pic or two and fill everyone in on a couple of announcements.

One, The Spirit of Ed Wood Blogathon banners are up on the sidebar. Click on them for the full-size to download and put on your own sidebar with a link back to here. You know you want to.

Two, the first three teaser trailers for October here at Cinema Styles are completed. Others will follow. Last year I did one trailer which went up in late August. This year it will be six teasers (two in June, two in July, two in August) and a final full trailer in September. Just like Christmas, October Killfest seems to come earlier and earlier each year.

Those are the announcements, here are the pictures. Two of them. Of the same actress. At the start of her career. Arbo, who is she?

Sally Forrest?

Marilyn - that does kind of look like her, but it's not.

Are you feeling better this week Marilyn?

And by the way, I can't get to your blog today for some reason and I'm almost positive the problem is on my end. I get this:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/db7498/public_html/ferdyonfilms.com/index.php on line 85

Anyone know what that means? I mean, other than the appearance of '<' is totally unexpected.

Ann Blyth?

When I clean up the format on my blog, I'll put your sidebars up. As of now, I don't even have a place for sidebars. I'm still using the original format blogga' stuck me with.

Two more thoughts: I love your banner to pieces, and if you hadn't told me you updated in that last post, I never would have known because this one doesn't show up in my feed...

Are you hiding from us?

Greg said...

She looks like Ann Blyth too. But she's not. Boy, she looks like a lot of people doesn't she?

Ryan, I don't know why it's not coming up in the feed. Oh well.

It's you, isn't it? Finally revealing yourself to your adoring fans!

Well, maybe not adoring. But we definitely like you. Most of the time.

Always one step ahead! Damn you!!!!

She's pretty.

Greg said...

Bill - Yes she is. She appeared in a limited number of movies and ended up doing a lot of tv. However, she was directed by some of the giants of cinema, despite her own IMDB bio remarking on her limited acting abilities. And of course she did B pics, including one or two that I know Arbo knows if he ever shows but I think he's busy right now.

Greg said...

Ryan - You don't think I'm going to save the pic with her name do you?

Greg said...

Ryan, I missed your comment about the banner. Yeah, I've been looking to work Bixby Snyder into a banner for a long time now. I'm glad I finally got to.

I'm trying to get the blog error resolved. Maybe Rod's pending review of The Thing (From Another World) was just too much for the site host.

I'm doing better, with a few ups and downs. We went to Wisconsin, rode our bikes, ate Swiss cheese, and looked at birds over the weekend. That was helpful.

Marilyn said...

Vanessa Brown?

Ryan Kelly said...

I didn't think the name would be there--- initials, first name... anything!

That sounds great actually, I'm glad it helped some. And no, sorry, it's not Vanessa Brown. If Arbo shows up and doesn't know it I'll reveal it. Trust me, she's nobody famous, but I bet all of us have seen at least one of the three films she did with the big name directors I mentioned.

Marilyn said...

You didn't actually mention the three directors, Greg, only that they were big names.

bill r. said...

Yes, you should tell us who the directors are, and which of their films she appeared in. Then we'll all put our heads together and try and figure it out.

Greg said...

No, I know. If I say their names you could just look her up. Anyway, I don't know where Arbo is so here it is. It's Dawn Addams who co-starred in King in New York with Chaplin, 1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse by Lang and The Moon is Blue by your personal favorite Otto Preminger.

I figured Arbo might know her from The Vampire Lovers.

Greg said...

Bill, I've gone even further and written her name. See if you can get it now.

bill r. said...

It's Dawn Addams.

Marilyn said...

I haven't seen any of those films, Greg. This is exactly why I don't get anywhere with your Name the Movie quizzes. We don't watch the same films.

Flickhead said...

She was also Felicity 'Fiz' Moonlight in Where the Bullets Fly, the eagerly anticipated sequel to The Second Best Secret Agent in the Whole Wide World. Charles Vine so totally rocks!

Greg said...

No sorry Bill, it's... oh wait, yeah, you're right. Good sleuthing Bill.

Greg said...

Marilyn, but still we can agree Chaplin, Lang and Preminger are pretty big names. I haven't seen the Mabuse one but I've seen the other two. Neither is anything special.

Greg said...

Hey, Flickhead knows her. I should have an underground movie face-off between Flickhead and Arbogast.

Flickhead said...

Bring it on.

Greg said...

As soon as I can get both of your schedules to coincide I'll do it.

Marilyn said...

Greg - You fail to understand the basic concept of contests. Choosing an obscure actress whom you basically said only Arbogast would know (despite the three big-name directors she worked with, probably in minor, highly forgettable parts) kinda frustrates the hell out of others of us - mainly me!

Ryan Kelly said...

Yeah Greg, you're a real jerk and I'm gonna smack you next time I see you.

Consider yourself warned!

Greg said...

I hate easy contests though, because, you know, they're easy.

From now on I'll do pictures of Elizabeth Taylor and Clark Gable.

Marilyn said...

Hey, dude, there's challenging and then there's "I might as well not show up because Greg is going to pick something he and one other people on the planet know, and I'm not one of them."

Greg said...

I never expected Marilyn to call me "Dude."

And I bet at least four other people on the planet knew today's photo. Easily four, hell maybe even five. Definitely Dawn and her children. I bet they knew. If only they visited Cinema Styles more regularly. Someone call Dawn and tell her to get her butt over here.

Also, and not for nothing, she's pretty and it's nice to have a pretty face up on the blog, even if nobody knows her. It's my excuse to put an obscure personality up, by making it a game. I'll find some handsome young actors to put up too. I promise.

Arbogast said...

I sure know her but I never would have guessed it was her from those pictures. Women are changeable, though, like gorgons.

Flickhead said...

Jonathan = Greg = dude.

It was only a matter of time.

Greg said...

I now anxiously await the next phase wherein "the" is added to my title and I become "the dude." Man, that'll be glorious.

Greg said...

Even Arbo didn't recognize her (I didn't either of course, I just knew it because I provided the photo). Oh well. I'll make the next one easier but not simple.

Dawn Adams?

Marilyn said...

Hey you! Not even Arbogast got it! I rest my case.

Greg said...

Yes ma'am.

Marilyn said...

Poor Greg. Aren't you glad you're not married to me?

Greg said...

"Poor Greg" nothing, I think you're great.

Now Fox I would not want to be married to, even if did mean immediately doubling up the DVD collection. He'd embarrass me in public too much.

Boy, I sure am glad I took the time to post last night.

I'M BEING SARCASTIC!!!!

Greg said...

I don't follow. Do you have a blog?

bill r. said...

Wha...do I have a bl...why I can't even...

I NEVER!!!

Marilyn said...

Bill, I'd like to read your blog but I just washed my hair (and put on protective eyewear).
