I Got Plenty O' Nuttin'

I'm currently tapped out so to speak. I got nothing. Work is too complicated right now for me to focus on a post so for today and possibly tomorrow, it's picture time!

Enjoy, and if you have any idea who in the hell these two people are I'll be impressed with your knowledge of the marginal. They're not complete unknowns, but they're not very famous either (although she has quite a few picture pages on Flickr devoted to her).

I like the time traveler visible through that round ticket window or whatever it is who clearly has a cell phone up to his ear. Clearly, there was more going on here than meets the eye (my all-seeing eye excluded).

Clearly!

I didn't notice the time traveler until now. I did notice the DJ wasn't looking at our mystery woman's face.

I also couldn't help but notice the, "Check out who I'm with" look on the face of her date. "Boy," he's thinking, "I finally made it!"

The best is the expression of the guy on the far left, with the big goofy "hey that's a nice butt" grin.

Not that he's wrong.

Wasn't the world great before fabulous co-opted hip-hop? I'm so fucking sick of everybody's little hats and untucked shirts.

Ed, that's the DJ I was referring to.

And doesn't it look like Sharon Stone studied her look for years?

Arbo, I'm so obsessed right now with scouring over photos from books from the fifties, online archives, magazines, etc. It's become a real fascination for me. Sometimes I just want to drop the essays altogether and just become a Charlie Parker type photo blog with it's emphasis on the fifties.

Goddamit!... [tucking my shirt in, taking my cap off, and turning off my Ludacris cd]

Funny, Greg, I try to make posts with pictures or screencaps, and then wind up writing a novel because the images tend to inspire me. For instance, I'm working on something about Godard's color films now in response to the thread at Bill's blog from last week, and the post started off as me simply picking five screencaps, and has evolved (or regressed) into another of my typically long winded pieces.

And now y'all now why I never update.

You know, I saw that Godard piece appear and then disappear from my reader, and I wondered what happened.

I love a good image, but I can never resist accompanying it with at least some commentary as well, even when I do my screengrab-intensive "films I love" posts.

And Greg, I didn't realize the grinning perv was the DJ. Oops.

Hahaha, you must have looked at your reader the exact second I posted it, because it was up for two seconds. And actually, I hadn't even written everything, I was just playing around with image sizes and making sure that blogger wouldn't pan and scan my images like they're known to do. I'm not using their image uploading anymore.

In truth, I do consider myself a writer but I really started the blog to share screencaps with all the world. As with all things in my life, I have violated my original intent several times over. How you've managed to stay so focused, Ed, I don't quite understand.

Wait a minute, who's the time traveler? Greg, you should scour old photographs from as far back as photography goes to see if you can find that guy again. You should probably also check out some old paintings. That dude is fucking up history for everybody.

Greg said...

Ryan, Ed - I love commentary as well or I wouldn't write as much as I do. If you click on my Movie pics feature on the side you'll find almost all of them have commentary even though I intend to just put up a pic.

Greg said...

BLH - No, he's not anywhere near that famous.

Greg said...

Bill - Yeah, right, wouldn't that be something. Ha ha. Well, anyway, I'm going to go download some more photos now. Ooh, here's one I've always liked from the surrender of Japan at the end of World W...

HOLY SHIT!

I couldn't identify the people in that photo either. The woman does have a magnificent backside though, and I'm usually not attracted to blondes.

Brian Doan said...

He looks really familiar, but I can't place him. Is he British?

Greg said...

Well, like I said, if anyone knew these two I'd be impressed because they're both pretty marginal players in the movies of the fifties, especially the actress who spent more time modelling than appearing in movies.

Anyway, they are Vikki Dougan and Lance Fuller.

The time traveller is still undetermined.

I checked out more photos and info on Ms. Dougan. The nickname, "The Back", probably was a euphemism for more than her backless dresses. Her physical attributes seem to have made her the Kim Kardashian of her day. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Of course Sir Mix-a-lot had more to say on that subject.

Greg said...

"The Back" - Well, I guess baby's got it.
