I decided to go with a theme today for Name That Movie, and so both clips take place on the water, in comparably sized boats. No smuggling or sharks in this one though.
*****UPDATE*****
Flickhead surges back. See comments for answer. Bill and Flickhead are now tied, 4 to 4.

Cat's Meow?
Last of Shiela?
It's probably Cat's Meow.
The Great Gatsby Goes Fishing?
Pearl Harbor?
Oh Marilyn! That is Close! Theme-wise.
Flickhead, you had to see this one in the theatre, just like me and my bro did. That should give you an idea of when it was made (because I mention seeing movies with my brother a lot and they're always from twenty to thirty years ago). Think, "Cheesy."
The Swiss Conspiracy?
Gable & Lombard?
Flickhead, cheesy as in "cheesy sci-fi" where one of the characters actually says the cliched line, "Einstein was right."
Philadelphia Experiment?
Very close in release date - keep going!
Final Countdown?
YES!!!
I almost didn't do this one because, like Fade to Black in the first Name That Movie contest, I kinda didn't want anyone to know I had my own copy, since that's where all these clips come from. But hey, we're entitled to a little cheese in our collection.
Is it Final Countdown???
Why yes it is, Mister "You Snooze You Lose." Why do you ask?
Because I want to five-peat!
I'm probably going to feel like an idiot for asking this, but what film is the that banner image from? It's striking!
The Final Programme!
Well, that makes sense.
what film is the that banner image from?
Rocky
Arbo's answer just clicked with me. I used to love watching that movie on TBS, or WGN, or WOR or whatever. I think every seventies cable station in the country ran it at one time or another. The first time I ever saw it I came in right at the end, when the proto-man speaks to the camera and I thought, "What the fuck is this?"
Later, I saw the whole thing and got my answer.
Bill, the real answer is The Banishment (2007). I haven't seen it but I loved the still when I was reading a review of it so I snagged it for a banner.
Hey... has yous guys heards about dis yet? Warners opening up their archives?
Hmmmm... that sounds familiar. Ah yes! Check the comments under the Inside Dope post from earlier today. But thanks anyway.
geez... what a jerk...
Who Bill? I don't think so.
I want Jonathan back. He loved people.
Fox, I'm just kidding with you. I still love all people. But Jonathan's not coming back. I tied him up behind the barn and drove a pitchfork through his chest. He's gone. Forever.
Well... I think we at least owe him some kind of final tribute.
Maybe we should have a Jonathan Lapper blog-a-thon.
Also, why do you still have Jonathan's eye still up as your profile picture. And btw, is that from an Economist advert? I coulda sworn I saw it before on one of their pop-up ads.
That's my cat. Here's the original photo. I took it with the camera practically in her face and as a result, the red indicator light gave her eye that reddish appearance. Well, I knew right then I had found my avatar.
Here she is all poofed up on a cold day.
Silly Greg... I escaped... You can't go on like this... I'll get my blog back... sleep with one eye open...
That second picture of kitty is funny... I can actually see you making a similar face when you read some of our blogs.
You can't tell from that photo, but she's one of the dimmest, clumsiest, most ungraceful cats that has ever lived. And that's why we love her. She makes us laugh daily. And she's sweet to everyone.
Jonathan - That name, and you, are dead to me. I exorcise you. Begone!
This charade must end!
Well, Greg/Jonathan has finally lost it. I knew the day would come, but it's still sad.
He/them is/are having a Polanski moment. How sad.
Yes, Bill/Jarvis/Jonathan, I sure am losing it.
But which one's the real blogowner? They look so alike...
I'm the real one. Shoot him!
Yes, Bill/Jarvis/Jonathan, I sure am losing it.
Waaaah?? My identity has been stripped away and now I don't know who I am anymore! I feel very existential!
Who is Jarvis?
Who's Jarvis!? Well, my friend, you need to visit The Invisible Edge. He is my voice robot and reads my posts for me. Go back one post and listen to his Jonathan/Greg confusion.
Who's Jarvis!?
He was probably kidding. Everybody's kidding today, apparently. Except for me. I really thought Incident at Loch Ness was shitty.
Yeah, it is odd that someone living in the world today wouldn't know Jarvis. I mean, the Edge is read by millions daily, maybe even billions.
I haven't seen the Loch Ness movie yet. I hear the makeup is superb.
I feel like the Man Who Haunted Himself. You can't erase my memory, Greg. I'm changing my name to Jervis Tetch, and then there's going to be trouble.
