I'll be out until later this afternoon so I won't be able to confirm guesses or provide clues for a while. But here it is anyway. Good luck.
Okay, I'm back and no one is guessing so... 1st clue - It's a British Comedy.
*****CLUE NUMBER TWO*****
Let's do a roundabout clue. Recently, Marilyn did a short post about slang featuring a movie that was remade. It's musical remake won Best Picture. The star of our Name That Movie is in that musical remake and in it he must get somewhere... on time! Hell, he even sings a song about it. And did I mention the Bonus Round Name That Movie is a British Comedy. A very silly British Comedy.
*****CLUE NUMBER THREE*****
The main targets of the film's gentle satire are the British Government and Nationalism.
*****We have a winner: Marilyn got it right. The mystery clip is from the 1949 comedy Passport to Pimlico. Congratulations to Marilyn.

Tortilla Flat?
I'm back in for a sec. No, it's not Tortilla Flat sorry.
Marilyn, for those who don't want that big banner in their sidebar (I'm one of them) I designed 8 small buttons that you can put there instead. They are now in a separate post just below the first one on the Film Club site. You can see mine in the sidebar here. I made 8 with backgrounds of white, black, grey, brown, etc. That should free up some space on our sidebars.
Rear Window: the Prequel?
No, but like Rear Window it does have actors in it. And it's a movie too. So, in a way, you're pretty close.
And Peter - Join the Film Club!
I want the full banner for a bit as an eye-catcher. Once the club is humming, I'll switch to something smaller.
Did you see that David Hudson made us the second item on GreenCine Daily's round-out of short items? Are you getting hits from there?
I don't know about the hits. I didn't bother to set up a sitemeter account for the Film Club site. But I'm sure it's getting plenty and I hope more people join in as we get things rolling.
I hope Hudson's replacement at GC Daily is as generous as he with second-tier sites like ours.
Second tier? This blog makes over a million dollars a year for me. I get millions of visitors daily. Millions!
Anyway, that was a nice dream, I'll have to try it again sometime.
But what replacement? Is David leaving Greencine? I go to his link page but I don't remember seeing an announcement.
First time player, but I've been lurking. Is it Our Man in Havana?
Yeah. He's going to IFC. It was up yesterday.
Kassy, welcome. It's not Our Man in Havana though.
Major Barbara?
Over the Moon?
It's not The Lavender Hill Mod, but that's what I'm going to guess anyway.
Bill is not correct, but he's on the right track. Marilyn covered Pygmalion on Ferdy and it was remade as My Fair Lady and Stanley Holloway, who is also in The Lavender Hill Mob sings "Get Me to the Church on Time" in My Fair Lady. So, he's the star of this movie as well.
Keep going Bill. You're getting warmer.
Marilyn, it was made a little later than Over the Moon. It's a poor DVD transfer, making it look older than it is.
Passport to Pimlico?
Man in the White Suit?
Another Shore?
And...
Marilyn...
is...
on...
the...
Board!
Passport to Pimlico it is!
Son of a dick...
No, Bill, sorry it's not Son of a Dick, that delightful Herbert Lom / Peter Sellers comedy. It was Passport to Pimlico.
Ball shit ass tits.
Yay! Where's my major award?
Marilyn, the leg lamp is in the mail!
Bill, stop guessing. It's Passport to Pimlico. I don't even have Ball Shit Ass Tits on DVD. Wasn't that the sequel to Eat Drink Man Woman?
Good work, Jonathan. I love a man who knows his Christmas Story.
Fra-GEE-lay.
Jonathan, Ball Shit Ass Tits is the American remake.
"'Frah - shgee - lay.' Must be Italian!"
American remake huh? I'll put it in the queue.
"Not a finger!"
"Oh fffffffffffffuuuuuuddge."
Daddy's going to kill Ralphie!
Only I didn't say "fudge". I said the word, the big one. The Queen Mother of Dirty Words. The Eff Dash Dash Dash word.
"It's... smiling at me."
"I double dog dare you."
Don't bother me. I'm...thinking.
Aren't you ashamed of yourself!
"'Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.' Ovaltine? A crummy commercial? Son of a bitch!"
My father worked in profanity the way other men might work in clay or oils. It was his true medium.
I just watched A Christmas Story again the other day with the little one. I've probably seen it every year since it came out in one form or another (cable, tape, dvd) and it still made me laugh. Especially Darren McGavin.
This is the movie I think Bill is referring to. Unless he was thinking of something else.
I was thinking of the one made in 2003. I think Bill was thinking of the one made in 1999.
